Dear Alvino -

Greetings from Saipan! Thought I'd drop you a line and say hello, since we have not been in touch for a while. We had a gubenatorial election in the fall, and now have a new Attorney General with many changes in the office. We'll see.... He seems determined to shake things up.

I've started playing one night per week with a couple of guys at a local honky-tonk. Mostly country and a mix of folk, etc., but I am confident that we are on our way to making Saipan the "Bluegrass Capitol of the Pacific", as the banjo player likes to say. I do it for free, but filled in as a solo when the main guy was off island getting his multi-engine pilot certification. That was a big challenge after almost 20 years since I had done it.

How are things with you? Playing? I still enjoy listening to the CD and playing it for friends. Caroline is playing guitar and is dying to get her hands on the Westbury electric, which is probably cluttering one of your closets. It occurred to me that I could send you some money and you could take the guitar to a Pack-and-Ship place and have them do all the work of boxing it up and mailing it. What do you think? I don't want to put you to any inconvenience, and that seems to be the easiest way to handle it. The only potential problem I see is that we only get US Post Office service reliably, and the size restriction might be a problem. Or maybe not. UPS will want lots of money, and DHL might, too.

Are you and the boys playing much? Haven't received any of your spam lately, but perhaps because I have a new email address, which you'll note when you receive this message. How are Liene and the Teenager? Hope all is well, and that you had a great New Year.

Best wishes,

Kevin
